CLUE: Every journal is as unique as the author….
ANSWER: Brook @bujo.brook
About eight years ago, Brook began a long journey into the world of journaling after purchasing an inexpensive spiral notebook from a store in the mall. Through much trial and error, they developed a unique style that is somewhere in between bullet journaling and junk journaling with a mix of scrapbooking as well. Then in 2020, while searching for creative ideas and inspiration, Brook found the online journaling community. After discovering there really is no wrong way to journal, document memories or track goals, the rest was history.
Being diagnosed with ADHD later in life, Brook found that planning and journaling is not only a creative hobby but also a tool for keeping on track. Using consistent monthly setups, including mood and habit trackers, playlists, book and film reviews as well as memory pages is helpful for recognizing trends and how they affect each other. Plus, experimenting with different colors, themes and accessories adds an element of fun to journaling.
Currently, Brook enjoys using the A5 Archer and Olive Storybook Dot Grid Notebook (in Pink) for daily journaling and planning, a B5 Archer and Olive Wonderstruck Dot Grid Notebook (in Shimmer) as a private memory journal and diary, plus a tiny-tiny spiral notebook as a blind box journal for collections. Some of their favorite journaling essentials include water based markers (Tombows and Zebra Mildliners), Micron pens (for anything fine line), Staedtler pens (ink dries fast), washi tape and sticky notes (which are an obsession).
Brook’s favorite thing about journaling is walking away from a page knowing it doesn’t have to be perfect. Every page, ripped up or spilled on, marker smudges, stains, it’s all a story that can be fondly remembered.
